Accessibility Features of the Burlington Housing Authority Web Site

This web site has a number of features for improved accessibility. Access keys have been added for the main site navigation so that these links can be accessed by mouse as well as keystroke. This is useful for site visitors who navigate the site from the keyboard. Additionally, the site has a "skip to page content" link which takes visitors directory to page content.

How do access keys work?

On the navigation menu, one letter of each link is underlined. This is called the there are underlined letters for each of the main categories. This is the access key. Windows users can type the Alt key plus the underlined key to access that link. On Internet Explorer, the enter key may be required as well. Macintosh users use the Control key rather than the Alt key.

What does the skip to page content link do?

The new "skip to page content" link is viewable to users using text-based browsers or screen readers, or with style sheets turned off. This link allows a site visitor to jump directly to page content, without having to wait to go through the navigation each time.
